Service Agreement:
At a Glance
All first -time requesters will be provided with a Service Agreement. This outlines applicable terms and service expectations. This ensures transparency and a clear understanding before services are scheduled. Please review an outline of the agreement by clicking below. Then, we can begin working on your request for an interpreter. More information on specific rates will be provided at the time of request.

Appointment/Event Details
Once the Service Agreement is reviewed, we can begin scheduling.
The following information is needed to begin scheduling:

Date and time of the appointment or event

Anticipated duration
-
Location, including arrival, parking, or meeting instructions

Point of contact for the day of service (name, phone number, email)

Name of the Deaf individual receiving services and date of birth, if available

Name and contact information of the person submitting the request

Description of the appointment or event (for example, medical appointment type, class, meeting, or performance)

Scheduling & Confirmation
Once the required details are received, interpreter coverage is coordinated.
A member of the NKSD team will follow up directly to confirm coverage, discuss next steps, and request any pertinent materials that may help the interpreter prepare for the assignment. Whenever possible, we encourage clients to provide materials such as agendas, presentations, speaker notes, handouts, scripts, course materials, or other relevant information in advance. Preparation materials allow interpreters to research specialized vocabulary, become familiar with complex subject matter, identify appropriate and accurate sign choices, and better understand the assignment's context and goals before arriving.
This preparation allows the interpreter to focus more fully on providing accurate, effective, and seamless communication access. Even when final materials are not yet available, any preliminary information you can provide is helpful and appreciated.
